Where are you located?

I'm based in Pontllanfraith, Gwent. I cover a 5 mile radius of my home. If you're unsure whether I will cover your area, message me anyway. If I can't provide a service, I will do my best to recommend someone in your area.

I need someone to look after my dog while I go away but, what is a pet sitter?

A pet sitter is someone who looks after your dog(s) within your own home! Essentially, I move into your home for the duration of your holiday and follow your routine as closely as possible so there is minimal stress for your beloved pets. This service can be tailored to you and your dog(s) so do not hesitate to message me to discuss your needs. From there, I can give you quote and if you decide to book, I can send you my client pack and arrange to meet. A deposit will be required to secure any dates. 
 

Does a pet sitter need any sort of licences to operate?

No, an in your own home pet sitter doesn't require a licence to be able to look after you're pets. That being said, I still have business insurance, a valid DBS check and I am qualified in canine first aid. Please ask me if you'd like to see any of my documentation and I will bring it with me to an arranged meet and greet. 

If you decide that a pet sitter isn't for you, and you start to look at home boarders or kennels, please remember they need a licence to operate their business. Don't be afraid to ask to see it! Alternatively, you can ask Caerphilly Council for an up to date list of licenced home boarders and kennels.

Do you look after animals besides dogs?

Yes I do! I also look after cats and small animals within your home!

I think a pet sitter is for me but can we meet up first?

Yes! Before any service commences, a meet and greet must go ahead. This is important for both of us. It allows me to observe your pet and see if we're a good match. Animals are very good judges of character so they'll tell you and show you what they think of me! Use this opportunity to quiz me and allow me to put your mind at rest!

I'm thinking of getting a dog walker. Where do you go for walks?

For my own safety and your dogs safety, I don't advertise where I am walking your dogs online but am happy to tell you in person or via text (if you become a regular customer) where I have walked your dog that day. All walks are local to the dogs homes. Secure fields can be booked at an additional cost.

Will my dog be walked off lead?

This is entirely up to you and a question that I ask in my client pack. I have long lines should you not want to let your dog off lead. This still allows them to run around with the security of me holding the lead! If you are happy for your dog to walk off lead, this won't happen immediately. I allow your dog to gain confidence with me and work on recall between me and your dog before taking off the lead. All leads will be attached immediately should we come across another dog. This is no reflection on your dog, I just think it's good manners when dog walking!

What do I need to provide you with?

• All dogs must have a collar and ID tag attached. This is a UK law and fineable offence!
• If you'd prefer me to use your leads, I'm happy to use them but I do have my own supply of short leads and long lines.
• If your dog cannot walk on a collar, please provide an adequate harness.
• Pets food must be provided. If any food should run out, I am more than happy to replace it but I must be reimbursed once you return from holiday.
• Food bowls, water bowls and anything else that's a comfort to your pet!
• If I am staying in your home, please let me know which room I am able to sleep in.
